Artist's Comments

Sitting outside smoking and noticed this minute little flower growing out of some weed out there (some sort of ground cover, so to me, it's a weed if it isn't grass or moss). I shot this from about 2" away, the 1" shot overpowered the image as too many things came into play focus wise and kind of took away from what I was trying to convey.

Now, to understand just how small this little thing is I've been trying to think of an everyday object for most as a reference point. Think, the jack to a Walkman/iPod/MP3 Player. The very tip doubled in width, that's how small this thing is. I shot a reference point of my fingers holding it, but basically, just looks like a pink background as even my pinky was 4 times larger than it was leaf to leaf.

Large, beautiful, wonderous things truly do come in small packages in the places you least expect them.... like weeds.

Download the full view for the complete impact.

4'7" is pretty small indeed, so you fit the title of this piece perfectly. :)

Bah, your far too kind, just a weed - and ya can't even smoke it. ;p

I'm glad you like it, one of those happy little accidents (well, not really, I ran back inside and grabbed my camera when I saw it).
